Born to a Buddhist/Shinto family in the historical port city, Yokohama, it was natural for Asako to become curious about religious and cultural diversities within Japan. After her conversion in the U.S. (through an exchange program), she found her uniqueness as a “returnee” helpful in contextualizing the Gospel to Japan and its subtly diverse culture.
After graduating from International Christian University (MA, public administration), she translated books including “Jesus Bible Story”, “The Prodigal God”, “Counterfeit Gods”, “The Meaning of Marriage” and “Encounters with Jesus”. Her husband Shin is a PCJ (Presbyterian church in Japan) pastor, and together they function as the Center Church translating project as project manager and translator.
