Koji Esaki was ordained in 1995, and for the next 20 years he would pastor churches in the Chubu area, including one church plant. Koji was born in Nagoya, but became a Christian in the United States as a graduate student. He also met his American wife there and started a family, worked in business and then went to seminary in the US.
Church planting works best when done with a multi-layered team, but Koji didn’t realize this or know who to ask for help. Many missteps later, he heard about a month-long City to City church planting Intensive and was convinced to participate. He and his wife attended in 2014.
Later he was asked by City to City to organize a team of nine translators, plus himself, to prepare the City to City Incubator modules for a Japanese audience. In 2015-16 Koji attended the City to City coach training, and has been coaching ever since. He hopes that all his experiences can help others in their church planting adventure.

江崎公二は１９９５年に按手を受け、中部地区で一つの教会開拓を含め２０年間牧会をしてきました。名古屋で生まれ、大学院生の時にアメリカ合衆国でクリスチャンになりました。アメリカでアメリカ人の妻と出会い、二人の娘を授かり、企業に勤めた後、アメリカの神学校で学びました。
教会開拓にはチームの協力と共同作業が必要ですが、牧会をしていた時はそのことに気づかず、誰に助けを求めていいかも分かりませんでした。多くの間違いをした後、シティトゥシティ主催の教会開拓セミナーのことを聞きました。参加者の年齢制限がありましたが、無理を聞いていただいて２０１４年、妻と二人でセミナーに参加しました。
シティトゥシティの教会開拓セミナーの英語教材を日本人クリスチャンのために翻訳するよう頼まれ、自分を含め９名の方々と協力して約８００ページの教材翻訳・監修作業を行いました。２０１５年と２０１６年の二回、シティトゥシティ主催のコーチトレーニングに参加しました。自分の失敗を含め今までの経験が日本で教会開拓に従事する人たちの役に立てればと思っています。
